Suppress Expression Lines

Expression lines appear on your face when you contract your facial muscles to convey certain expressions, such as frowning and laughing. Overusing these facial muscles can lead to permanent dynamic wrinkles, making you look upset or sad. Xeomin is a cosmetic injection capable of relaxing the over-contracted facial muscles, thus suppressing the associated wrinkles. Xeomin is FDA-approved to correct moderate-to-severe frown lines between the eyebrows, but it can also reduce other facial wrinkles.

Xeomin Corrects:

  • Horizontal forehead lines
  • Vertical frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Crow’s feet around the eyes
  • Bunny lines around the bridge of the nose
  • Laugh lines around the nose and mouth
  • Smoker’s lines or lipstick lines around the lips
  • Chin creases, also known as a cobblestone chin
  • Other unwanted dynamic wrinkles on the face

How Xeomin Works

Xeomin belongs to a category of injectables known as neuromodulators, made of a specialized neurotoxin protein called botulinum toxin type A. This neurotoxin can block communications between nerve endings and targeted muscles. Dynamic wrinkles appear because of excessively contracted facial muscles. When injected carefully, Xeomin paralyzes the facial muscles responsible for your dynamic wrinkles, thus helping you achieve smooth, wrinkle-free skin. You can also get preventative Xeomin to delay the onset of new wrinkles.

The “Naked” Botulinum Toxin

Xeomin has been described as “naked” because the botulinum toxin is not accompanied by complex proteins, unlike most other forms of botulinum toxin, such as Botox. This makes Xeomin a more purified form of botulinum with fewer immunogenic proteins. Xeomin’s “naked” nature reduces the chances of resistance from pre-existing antibodies, making it longer-lasting. Even after years of use, your body won’t develop a tolerance to this neuromodulator.

The Experience

TruWellnessMD ensures a safe and simple Xeomin experience. The medical provider will analyze your facial skin, assess the location and depth of your wrinkles, discuss your goals, and curate a personalized treatment plan. They’ll select the appropriate units of Xeomin to ensure natural-looking results and mark the targeted treatment areas. After cleansing your facial skin, the provider will apply a numbing gel and administer Xeomin via ultrafine needles. You might feel a little pinch, but there’s no pain.

Anesthesia: Topical (Optional)

Xeomin treatments cause little-to-no pain, with or without anesthesia. Most patients describe the sensation as a little pinch. However, we can apply a numbing gel before the treatment to minimize discomfort, especially for anxious patients.

Duration: 10 to 30 Minutes

Your first Xeomin session will be your longest because we take the time to understand your goals and skin type, answer your questions, and curate personalized treatment plans. As such, the first session may take around 30 minutes. After the first session, all future treatments can be concluded within 10 minutes. The neurotoxin injections only take a few minutes.

Side Effects: Minimal

Common side effects of Xeomin may include mild swelling, redness, pain, itching, and bruising around the treated areas. The side effects usually dissipate within a few days.

Downtime: None

Xeomin doesn’t involve any downtime. You may resume your daily activities and work immediately, but please avoid strenuous physical activities, direct sunlight, and facial massage for 24 hours. You should also keep your head elevated for a few hours.

Results: 3 to 14 Days

Some of your wrinkles may start looking smoother after 3 to 4 days. But the results continue improving for up to 2 weeks, so it takes around 14 days for the final results to become evident.

Longevity: 3 to 6 Months

The results of your Xeomin treatment will last for 3 to 6 months. The longevity of the result depends on numerous factors, including your body’s metabolism, lifestyle, treatment areas, and the number of units used for your treatment.

Frequency: 2 to 4 Per Year

Most patients opt for 2 to 4 Xeomin treatments annually to maintain an effortlessly youthful appearance. However, the optimal frequency of your treatments will depend on the longevity of your results.
